Make your dream a reality when you take the controls of a Robinson R-22 helicopter and learn the basics of flight on the Learn to Fly a Helicopter experience near Austin!
Your thrilling experience will begin with a ground lesson and pre-flight helicopter inspection. Your FAA certified flight instructor will walk you through the controls, safety and basic theories of flight before taking to the air.
When you've completed the pre-flight checklist, you'll prepare for takeoff and take over the controls once the certified pilot has taken off from the ground.
Take in a bird's eye view of the Lone Star State as you navigate the helicopter during the 40 minute flight.
From engine start to engine stop, the Learn to Fly a Helicopter experience is one you'll remember forever!
To fly the R-22, the participant must be no taller than 6'6" and weigh no more than 220 lbs.
All participants must be at least 13 years of age. No experience necessary.
One student per helicopter.
Approximately 40 minutes of flight time. Plan on being onsite for about 2 hours to include enough time for ground school, orientation, etc.
1 student per helicopter
Spectators are welcome to come watch and take pictures of the takeoff.
This experience is weather dependent. Always contact the experience provider with any questions regarding weather conditions. In the event of inclement weather, your pilot will work with you to reschedule your experience.
What to Wear:
Wear comfortable clothing appropriate for weather conditions; flat rubber-soled shoes are recommended.
For this experience, it is recommended to request bookings at least 14 days in advance.
Prior to scheduling/booking a date for this experience, Cloud 9's standard return and exchange policy shall apply. Once you have scheduled a date and received a booking confirmation, no refunds will be given. Rescheduling is allowed up to 72 hours prior to your experience, failure to appear on your booked date or to reschedule at least 72 hours prior to your booked date will result in the loss of the value of your experience. In the event your experience is canceled due to inclement weather, you will reschedule directly with your Learn to Fly a Helicopter experience provider.
Are there any height or weight restrictions?
Yes, for this experience participants must be under 6'6" and weigh no more than 220lbs.
Do I need experience?
No experience is necessary. This flight is considered an introductory flight and is meant to be fun and exciting for everyone!
What do I need to bring?
Please bring a valid, government-issued ID with you on the day of your flight.
Is there an age requirement?
There is no specific age requirement for this experience; however, the participant does need to be tall enough to reach the pedals.
What if my flight is cancelled due to weather?
We always recommend contacting your pilot on the day of your experience if you have any concerns regarding weather. In the event your flight is cancelled due to weather you can reschedule directly with your pilot.
Can I bring a passenger?
