"The gift from my children was exceptional: Cloud 9 Living's Ultimate Biplane Experience. Dave Brown, the pilot, provided me with a magical flying experience in his PT-17. Following is my thank you note to my children for the special gift. Thanks for a great ride to Dave and Cloud 9 Living. :) "Kelly, John and Jenny: Thank you for the great ride today. We flipped the PT-17. We rolled it too. We did hammerheads, going straight up and over backwards. I even got to fly it for 10 minutes myself. A beautiful day for flying -- blue sky, no clouds, great landscapes, the Blue Ridge Mountains. We could see for 25 miles in all directions. And best of all, I could sense what my Grandfather Patrick did when he flew in the 1920s open cockpit airplaneā€¦ a genuine sense of exhilaration. Thanks again for the wonderful adventure. The PT-17 we flew today was manufactured in 1941. There were 10,000 manufactured. It was the training plane for the American Army and Air Force pilots in WWII. The trainees were given 8 hours of flight time as their training, and then had to solo... pretty tough and very exciting. And now I have flown 2 airplanes that are in the Smithsonian Air Museum at Dulles. The Weed Hopper that Sage and I flew in Tulsa, and now the PT-17!! Thanks again for the great adventure and fun ride!! Love, Dad" "
