Description:
Suit up and prepare for a flight experience you will never forget! This is your chance to man the controls of a L-39 Albatross, a legendary light attack aircraft and jet trainer.

Once airborne, you'll have the chance to engage inbasic aerobatics including loops, rolls, stalls and steep turns. And if speed is your thing, this aircraft is sure to get your heart pumping as it tops out at 490 knots or .8 mach.

Your professional instructor specializes in transitioning pilots of all levels to flying high performance piston and jet aircraft.

About the Aircraft:
Built as a successor to the L-29, the L-39 first flew in 1968. After entering production in 1972, the L-39 had great success as a jet trainer and light attack aircraft throughout the world, at one point being used by nearly forty air forces globally. This aircraft is still flown by numerous militarties including Russia, Ukraine, Thailand, the Czech Republic and Egypt.

With a max speed of 490 knots or .8 mach and a +8/-4G load limit, the L-39 is easy to fly, comfortable due to a modern environmental control system and has a final approach speed around 120 knots.

Essential Information:
Participants must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid Private Pilot License.

Duration:
40 and 60 minute flight options

Maximum Participants:
1 per plane.

Spectators:
Friends and family are encouraged to come with you, but are not allowed in the plane. And don't forget your cameras.

Weather Dependent:
This experience is weather dependent. Always contact the Experience provider with any questions regarding weather conditions.

What to Wear:
Wear comfortable clothing appropriate for weather conditions. We recommend dressing in layers and avoiding windbreakers as they tend to fill with air

Booking Information:
For this experience, it is recommended to request bookings at least 14 days in advance.

Cancellation Policy:
Prior to scheduling/booking a date for this experience, Cloud 9's standard return and exchange policy shall apply. Once you have scheduled a date and received a booking confirmation, cancellations and rescheduling are allowed up to 14 days prior to the Experience. Failure to appear on your booked date, cancel or reschedule at least 14 days prior to your booked date will result in the loss of the value of your Experience.

  1. Do I actually get to fly the plane?
    Yes, you will be manning the controls and flying the plane alongside a professional instructor.
  2. Do I need any certifications to participate in this experience?
    Yes, to fly this aircraft you must hold a Private Pilot's License.  If you do not hold a license, please check out some of our other flying experiences in your area.
  3. Where will I fly?
    You will take off from the Aurora airport, just west of downtown Chicago, and fly over the surrounding countryside.
  4. Can I bring a GoPro with me on the flight?
    They do not allow cameras in the aircraft.  If they get loose and damage the canopy it costs $20,000 to replace.  There is a digital video of the flight available for $60 with their handwired system.
