This 6-week course is designed for people who want to start making beats. No prior music knowledge is required. Students will receive hands on training in MIDI sequencing and learn the basics of digital music production.

Skills Covered:

  • Basics of digital audio and MIDI
  • Essentials of Reason

Each student will learn at his or her own workstation equipped with a laptop computer and MIDI keyboard. Students will learn to use Reason music software to make their beats. Instruction is taught on a PC. However, the skills learned are applicable to Macs as well.

At the conclusion of the 6 weeks, each student will leave the course with 2 or more complete beats and several production sequences to be used for future beat making.
