View FAQ's >

  1. How much food is served on the tour?
This tour provides enough food that for most participants, lunch afterwards or breakfast before will not be necessary. With the mix of drink and food tastings combined with short stops outside the historical landmarks and the sharing of inside knowledge, most participants are comfortably full after the tour. Please understand this food tour is not intended to replace breakfast and lunch combined, so please consider eating a light breakfast before the tour.
  2. Will there be alcohol tastings on the tour?
There are a couple of stops on our tour that do include alcohol tastings. For guests of legal drinking age who would like to participate in these tastings, please be sure to have a valid ID. For those without ID or under the age of 21, please let us know at the time of booking and substitute tastings will be made available.
  3. What if I have dietary restrictions or allergies?
Food substitutions for vegetarians can be made, however gluten-free or dairy allergies cannot be accommodated. Please make note of any vegetarian requests at the time of booking. The chefs have carefully thought out their presentations to you and feel that what they present best represents their story.
  4. How much walking is there on the tour?
The 3 hour tour covers a little over one mile. There are short breaks along the way.
  5. Does the tour end at the same location it starts?
No. The final tasting is about a 15 minute walk from the starting location.  If you have any questions about how to get back, please be sure to ask your tour guide who will gladly give you detailed directions.
  6. What happens if it rains?
The tour runs rain or shine. In the event of inclement weather, you will be able to go inside many of the establishments on the tour. You will not be outdoors for the entire 3 hours. You should still dress appropriately for the day's weather conditions.
  7. Is the tour appropriate for children?
Children are more than welcome, but please keep in mind that some children have a limited attention span and therefore a 3 hour walking tour may not be appropriate. Parents know their children best and should assess the situation individually. Since there is a lot of standing and walking, please consider this when deciding whether the tour is appropriate for your child.
  8. Is the tour wheelchair or stroller accessible?
Using wheelchairs or strollers on this tour will be extremely challenging.  Please contact Cloud 9 Living with specific questions or to inquire further about what type of needs the tour can accommodate.
  9. Will there be time to shop during the tour?
We ask that you please wait to shop until after the tour is completed so that the group can stay on the food-tasting schedule and continue with the tour and food tastings in a timely manner. We realize there may be a couple of locations you would like to purchase items so we ask you to allow time at the end of the tour to return to your favorite locations. The tours are on a schedule to arrive at each tasting location so it's important to stay on schedule so the food is fresh and at proper temperature at each stop.
  10. Are restrooms available during the tour?
There will be restrooms available at the beginning, halfway and at the end of the tour.
  11. Does the tour have anything to offer the locals of Kansas City?
Absolutely! A majority of tour attendees live right in the Kansas City area. Locals join the tour to learn about the great food finds and the amazing culinary talent that has been under their noses and in their back yards the entire time! The Crossroads is brimming with interesting facts, lively tales and history that will surprise you!
  12. Is gratuity included?
Gratuity for your guide is not included, but is appreciated if you enjoy the tour.

"Absolutely LOVED the experience! I've been recommending it to everyone! And we are interested in another food tour in KC, and other experiences available thru Cloud 9 Living. Top notch! This was a fabulous Christmas gift! The only change I would make is not starting with pizza at Grinders, but at the coffee place. I would line them up like this (I realize it makes sense to put Grinders and Thou Mayest back to back since they are neighbors, but later in the line up would be good): Thou Mayest - The Sundry - Grinders - Bizz and Weezy - Snow and Co - Pezzetino's. Thanks again for a great experience!"

"This was a Christmas gift from out-of-town relatives. We really didn't know what to expect and were pleasantly surprised. We enjoyed each venue we visited and plan to go back to several. I have lived in the KC metro area all my life and enjoy its history. I would encourage Kylie (guide) to read more about the local history and add some information to her knowledge of the area. There are some wonderful books that would enhance her presentation. She was very personable and interacted with group. It was a very enjoyable adventure for us."
