View FAQ's >

  1. Do I need to have prior kayaking experience?
No, the Morro Bay Kayaking Adventure is designed to accommodate beginners as well as experienced kayakers.
  2. Are there any age requirements?
There is no minimum age, however participants are required to sit still in the kayak for the paddling time. Children under 2 typically sit in the lap of an adult while children between 3-8 are able to sit in the front of a tandem kayak. Children ages 10 and older have the option of a single kayak, but must understand they will responsible for paddling the entire way. PFDs are available for all ages.
  3. What kind of kayaks are used?
Traditional "sit inside" kayaks are used on the Morro Bay kayak tours. They tend to be drier, more comfortable and perform better on the relatively flat water than "sit on top" kayaks. Both single and tandem kayaks are available.
  4. What should I wear?
Although you will get a little wet, wetsuits or other special gear are not required on this kayaking adventure. It is recommended to wear footwear that can get wet and muddy, bring a windbreaker or waterproof jacket and to avoid cotton clothing as it soaks and holds water. Waterproof fleece lined lap blankets will be provided to help keep you warm and dry.
  5. Will I get wet?
There are no large waves, but you should expect to get a little wet. Morro Bay is protected from the large waves of the open ocean by a 4-mile long sandpit with some tidal currents. Small waves may pick up on the bay with heavier breezes and you might get some spray in the boat, however it is highly unlikely large waves will break over the boat to soak you. Water often drips off the paddles into the boat as well. You will get in and out of the kayaks at the sand dunes and may get a little sandy or muddy.

"This trip was the highlight of my sister's 50th birthday weekend. Yes, 3 middle-aged sisters did it! We can't say enough good things about this 1st wonderful experience in kayaking. Ed was very patient, knowledgeable about the area and wildlife and an excellent cook to boot! We are all planning on doing other trips with you in the future."
