More detailed description >

Combine the excitement of flight with the magnificent beauty of a Southern California sunrise as you enjoy this once in a lifetime experience.

Your hot air ballooning adventure begins at La Vindemia, a private vineyard in the middle of the Temecula Wine Country - centrally located between San Diego and Los Angeles, and just inland from Orange County. You will arrive shortly before sunrise to a cup of piping hot coffee, cocoa or hot tea.

Your pilot, armed with years of experience, will gauge the wind direction and speed and pick the perfect launch site.

You'll be amazed as your balloon transforms from a canvas bag into a vibrant, colorful, teardrop-shaped life form with the help of cold air fans and millions of BTUs of heat. The inflation process is an excellent photo opportunity so don't forget your camera!

Enjoy the splendor of a mountain sunrise as you leisurely float over rolling hills, impeccably planted rows of lush vineyards and the angular lines of red tile roofs of country estates and ranches.

Once you have set down, you can reminisce during the traditional champagne celebration and gourmet continental breakfast.

You will never forget this skyward adventure!

View FAQ's >

  1. Is it safe?
Your experience provider has built their entire reputation on providing you with the adventure of your life. Since 1977 their pilots, staff, and crew have been extensively trained. They employ rigid company practices that go beyond those required by law.
  2. What should I wear?
Recommended attire is casual outdoor active wear, and a jacket, sweatshirt or fleece pullover. Comfortable shoes are suggested (no high heels). Because the balloon burners radiate heat, we recommend that if you are over six feet tall that you wear a hat or a cap. In the cooler months you can bring some gloves to wear.
  3. What about bad weather?
Weather is an important factor in ballooning. We ask that you call your pilot the night before your flight for a final weather confirmation. If your flight is cancelled because of weather conditions, you can reschedule for a future date. You usually will be able to fly the following day. It is highly recommended that you keep a couple of optional days in mind when making your balloon ride booking request, just in case there is a weather cancellation.
  4. What should I bring?
You will want to bring a camera and/or video camera to capture the experience. It is recommended you leave all other personal possessions safely locked in your car.
  5. How long will my adventure last?
From the time you leave your car until the time you return to your car, the time involved is usually 3 to 3.5 hours. This includes driving to the launch site, watching the inflation of the balloon (a great photo opportunity), the balloon ride itself, and the celebration upon landing. After the flight, you will enjoy breakfast at La Vindemia, a private vineyard. You will also receive a photo flight certificate signed by your pilot that commemorates your ballooning adventure! At the end of the experience you will be driven back to the meeting location.
  6. How many people will fit in the balloon and are there any size or weight restrictions?
It depends on the number of reservations for your selected date. The experience provider has a variety of colorful balloons. The smallest accommodates 6-8 passengers, and the largest accommodates 14 passengers. All baskets are large, European design, and partitioned to give each passenger maximum comfort and visibility. For safety reasons, the weight limit per person is 300 lbs.
  7. How high will we go?
When you are aloft in the balloon you will be around 1,500 feet above the earth, and that's what makes those views so fantastic!
  8. How far will we travel?
The average distance that you will travel in the balloon is 3-7 miles, depending on winds.
  9. Will I experience motion sickness?
There is no turbulence, sway or keel in a hot air balloon. However, if you are especially sensitive to motion, medication should be effective.
  10. Can I steer the balloon?
A balloon moves with the wind, at the same speed and in the same direction. So no you cannot steer in the traditional sense. However, "steering" is done by ascending or descending into the wind layers to move your course from one heading or direction to another based on the winds available on a given day.

"The balloon ride over Temecula was a blast. My wife and I had never been ballooning before, and she is a bit wary of heights, but the ride was so pleasant, so smooth, so invigorating and fun that we simply had a blast. The pilot and the entire experience was great, including complementary breakfast and mimosas at the winery after our balloon ride."
