Description:
Are you ready for the driving experience of a lifetime? Turn your dream of taking the checkered flag into a reality at the historic 2.5 mile Pocono Raceway.

Thousands of cars have raced here since the track's beginning in 1968, and now it is home to 2 Sprint Cup Series races each year. With its long straight-aways and three distinct corners, this Super Speedway is an incredible track to drive.

Your stock car driving experience begins with a detailed discussion on the operation of the race cars, safety equipment and track rules. This is followed by an informative tour of the race track with one of our professional instructors. Next you will be fitted for a racing suit and helmet.

Now it is time to climb in, strap up and take control of a Nextel Cup style stock car. As you leave the pit and enter the 2.5 mile super speedway you will experience an adrenaline rush only known to the NASCAR racing world.

The drive sessions are run in a follow the leader format. An instructor will lead two students following four car lengths behind. Each lap your confidence builds and the lead instructor increases the speed.

Upon completion of our program, each participant will receive a certificate of achievement and memories that will last a lifetime.

View FAQ's >

  1. Do I need a driver's license?
Yes. Driving participants must have a valid (legal and not expired), government-issued driver's license (from any country).
  2. Is there an age requirement?
All driving participants must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license.
  3. Are there any physical requirements or restrictions?
Participants must be a minimum of 5'0'' and 100 lbs, and a maximum of 6'4'' and 300 lbs. Participants must be in good health, and be able to enter and exit the car unassisted through a window opening 15" high x 30" wide, sitting 36" off the ground, with little or no assistance. Please call Cloud 9 Living prior to purchase if there is any question surrounding participant meeting these height/weight/physical requirements, to ensure participation is possible. There will be no refund due to a student's inability to fit in a race car.
  4. What is the track like?
Pocono Raceway has long been recognized as one of NASCAR's most competitive tracks in the NASCAR circuit, as it is the site of two NASCAR Cup races held annually. The 2.5-mile tri-oval super speedway sports a unique design, with each of its three turns modeled after a different track in the US. Turn One (14-degree banking) is modeled after the former Trenton Speedway. Turn Two (sometimes referred to as "The Tunnel Turn") is reflects the 8-degree banking of the infamous Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Turn Three (6-degree banking) boasts the likes of the renowned Milwaukee Mile. Although referred to as a tri-oval track style, the Pocono Raceway's turns are more similar to a triangle shape, as its turns are much sharper than the likes of other typical tri-oval tracks (such as Daytona). They have been more accurately likened to the hairpin-style turns of road courses.
  5. What is a typical day like?
The stock car driving programs begin with a detailed discussion on the operation of the race cars, safety equipment and track rules. This is followed by an informative tour of the race track with one of our professional instructors. Next you'll be fitted for a racing suit and helmet. Now it's time to climb in, strap up and take control of a SPRINT Cup style stock car. As you leave the pit and enter the 2.5 mile super speedway you will experience an adrenaline rush only known to the racing world. The drive sessions are run in a follow the leader format. An instructor will lead two students following at four car lengths. Each lap your confidence builds and the lead instructor increases the speed. Upon completion of our program, each participant will receive a certificate of achievement and memories that will last a lifetime.
  6. What is the driving format?
Following a one-hour pre-drive orientation/training session with the driving school's Crew Chief and professional instructors, you'll drive a real Sprint Cup style stock car on the track for a timed session. The orientation will cover the correct racing line utilized on the track, by following 4 car-lengths behind the lead car. Total drive-time will depend on the lap-length program purchased. You will be able to drive at higher speeds each lap depending upon your own ability. You will follow a lead instructor car when you are behind the wheel for your racing time.
  7. Do I need to know how to drive a stick?
Yes. To drive you are required to have experience in operating a manual transmission. All cars have 4-speed manual transmissions.
  8. What type of cars are used?
These are real stock cars, just like the big boys drive on Sunday - 4 speed Fords, Chevys and Dodges.
  9. Do I need to purchase insurance?
For this particular experience, the company has its own auto insurance for damage to the cars. Drivers are not responsible for damage to the cars during the driving session.
  10. How fast will I go?
Fast! While each person is different, students can expect to reach speeds of 140 MPH.
  11. Can I choose the car that I will drive?
No. Unfortunately, the driving school cannot guarantee which exact cars will be at the track on a given date, nor can they promise the specific car a participant will be assigned to for his/her drive. Each participant is assigned to a car with careful consideration, based on individual height and weight.
  12. Can guests come along to the race track?
Yes. We encourage you to have friends and family share in the experience with you and have cameras ready! The track will have a special seating area available for guests to safely watch the action. We recommend that your spectators bring blankets/lawnchairs, as seating in this area is sometimes limited.
  13. How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking at least 4 weeks in advance.
  14. What should I wear?
Wear comfortable, climate-appropriate clothing and close-toed shoes. A driving suit (worn over your clothing) and helmet will be provided to all participants.
  15. Can I bring my own gear to use?
Participants are welcome to bring their own helmet and driving suit. All participant gear will be inspected by the Track Operator for formal approval on the day of the experience. The driving school will provide a replacement if the participant is not authorized to use any of his/her own gear.
  16. What is the policy on rain/weather?
This experience is weather dependent. However, it does run in the rain. Every effort will be made to operate all sessions. You are required to report to the track and register in person on your scheduled date, regardless of current or forecasted conditions, unless otherwise previously contacted directly by the driving school. Failure to report to the track in person will result in a no-show, thereby forfeiting your opportunity to participate in the experience. Refunds are not provided for no-shows or weather-related cancellations. In the event that the driving school cancels your session, you will be provided a rain check good for one year from that date to complete your program.
  17. What is the cancellation policy?
Prior to scheduling/booking a date for this experience, Cloud 9's standard return and exchange policy shall apply. Once you have scheduled a date and received a booking confirmation, no returns or exchanges are allowed. Please see below for information regarding rescheduling or sending a substitution driver.

If for some reason you can not attend on your reserved date, you may send a substitution at no additional charge.
  19. Will the participant receive anything after completing the program?
Upon completion of our program, each participant will receive a certificate of achievement and memories that will last a lifetime.
  20. Do you have any suggestions for local area lodging?
Accommodations are available in the area. We recommend that you contact the either Pocono Raceway or Long Pond, Pennsylvania's local Chamber of Commerce for further information.
