Is shark diving safe?
To date this expedition has enjoyed a 100% operational record at every shark site it has operated in. This excellent record of shark interaction is a result of respect for the sharks and following careful safety protocol.
Do I need qualifications to dive?
Other than being reasonably physically fit, you do not have to be an expert diver to cage dive at the Isla Guadalupe white shark dive site. It is strongly suggested that non divers take an "intro to diving" class at your local dive shop prior to arriving at the white shark dive site.
Do you have Bio-Sphere permits?
This expedition operates under Mexican operations permits issued by CONANP and other agencies. They have done so since the permit system was introduced to Isla Guadalupe in 2008. There are no such things as "exclusive permits" at Isla Guadalupe. The Mexican white shark permit system is fair and even, each vessel, each operator, has to operate within the established park guidelines.
Do the sharks ever attack the cage?
As a general rule no, they do not. The sharks are not enticed to the cages, but you can expect very close passes within 12 inches at times.
How big are the sharks?
Isla Guadalupe Great Whites are primarily transitional sub adults, 12-16 feet in length. Later in the season it is possible to encounter sharks upwards of 18 feet. Late season sharks also come with a better chance of poor weather on site so you need to take that into consideration when making your shark diving choice.
Is cage diving always possible?
On occasions adverse weather may prevent safe cage diving operations. Your experienced dive operations managers will make the decision on whether your safety is at risk. They may move the boat to a better location or even cancel the trip and reschedule as soon as the weather improves. Safety is always the first priority. This trip has only been canceled once due to late season storms, and all the divers got to make a return trip.
Is there a Shark Guarantee?
Yes. This trip only runs during peak seasons and takes place in some of the word's most productive and pristine shark sites. All expeditions have a full and complete guarantee to back them up. If an expedition is canceled due to weather or sharks are not delivered you will have a full two years to make your return expedition with the option of gifting it to someone else if you choose.
