  • Sample various foods and learn from a professional chef and friendly tour guide what makes the cuisine of Orleans so unique and delicious.

    Your experience begins with a live Louisiana cooking demonstration and a delicious lunch of the demonstrated recipes. After lunch and a break you will meet a professional guide for a restaurant tour.

    Walk past famous landmarks such as the St. Louis Cathedral and Jackson Square. Your personable guide will describe the beautiful architecture and history of the sights.

    As you enjoy the delicious tastings served up along the walking tour, your friendly and knowledgeable guide will offer a glimpse into New Orleans' rich history of cuisine. Sample from two of the oldest historical restaurants established in the 1840 and 1856, while learning about the ethnic influences and evolution of New Orleans Cuisine.

    The walking culinary tour's delicious food samples may include (but are subject to change):

    Food samples are included in the cost of this experience. Water, tea, coffee, and beer are served during lunch. Additional beverages can be purchased during the tour; water is available at all restaurants.

    Most establishments are located within a 4-block radius of the tour starting point.

    Tips are not included but are greatly appreciated if you enjoy the tour.

    1. Do I need to purchase a ticket for an infant?
      If the infant can sit in your lap during the class, you do not need to purchase a ticket for them.  However, please be sure to note at the time of booking if you will be attending with an infant or very small child.
    2. How much food is served on the tour?
      Lunch is served as part of the tour. The demonstration and meal generally include four recipes, and may include Gumbo, Red Beans and Rice, Jambalaya, Shrimp Creole, Corn & Crab Bisque, Shrimp & Artichoke, Crawfish Etoufee, Soup, Pecan Pie, Pralines, or Bananas Foster After lunch you will walk to historic restaurants to sample famous dishes that may include (but is subject to change): Seafood Gumbo, Beef Brisket with Creole Sauce, Turtle Soup, and Shrimp Arnaud.
    3. Can dietary restrictions be accommodated?
      If you make your request know ahead of time, your guide will do their best to accommodate. However, it can not be guaranteed that the cooking school and restaurants will have substitutions available. While a substitution may not be available for each tasting, vegetarians and vegans will be able to participate in many tastings. It is strongly recommended that you use your best judgment when sampling, as you know most about your food sensitivities.
    4. How much walking is included?
      Most of the establishments are located within a 4-block radius of the starting location. You will spend most of your time standing, but will be able to sit at some locations. You will be climbing stairs at 2 locations.
