Your approximately 2 hour, guided tour will begin at South Street. Your local guide will show you around the neighborhood of Bella Vista in South Philly. This area is known for its iconic mosaic street art and you will have a chance to spot some as you make your way over to the market!
The 9th Street Italian Market is the oldest and largest everyday open-air market in the United States. The market began in the mid-to-late 1880s and has grown to become an iconic Philadelphia destination. Your guide will lead you through the market to all the best establishments and stalls as your senses will take in the sights and smells of the market! Tempt your taste buds as you wander past cheeses, chocolates, spices, olive oils, and more. Visit some of the city's finest butchers and bakers and pick up some delicious groceries along the way! You may even score a few deals if you feel up to bartering!
Next, you will cross over the main intersection of the market and head towards a variety of international establishments, including Mexican, Vietnamese, Cambodian, and Chinese stores. This area may look familiar to you... it was featured in the movie Rocky!
Your market tour will conclude at an intersection made famous by local restaurant competitors Pat's and Geno's. These two restaurants have famously competed over the years for the title of "Best Cheesesteak in Town" and neither of them will let you down if you decide to grab a sandwich after your tour!
