You're zooming through whitewater and paddling like mad to avoid an oncoming rock formation. Water is rushing all around your face and you can just barely see well enough to get through to the other side before you're at it again.Full Description>
- First whitewater rafting company on the east coast with over 40 years of experience
- 7.5 miles of class III-IV whitewater
- You captain your own boat! But don't worry, an expert guide is next to you in a kayak the whole time
- Deli style picnic lunch included
After meeting your guides and receiving your life jacket and helmet, you'll be transported to the staging area where you'll begin your river trip.Key Info>
Dividing into groups of 4 - 6 people, you'll climb into your rafts for a quick introduction to river running before hitting the water. River safety, paddle strokes, boat maneuvering and what to expect on the water will all be covered. From there you'll head to the river and the fun begins!
After a few moments of getting comfortable in your raft and listening to your captain's commands, you'll float into the first Class III rapid, Entrance. That sets the stage and gives you a feel for the rest of the day.
The Lower Yough is 7.5 miles of Class III - IV whitewater rapids. It is considered a drop and pool river: the rapids are separated by calm deep pools, allowing you to catch your breath and enjoy the scenery.
You will stop along half way through the day for a deli style lunch - complete with cookies & Fruit! It is a thrilling whitewater experience & full of adventure!
For a little more excitement, the trips are run as "guide assisted" trips. You will captain your own raft, but the guides are always close by to lend a helping hand.
Before the large rapids, the entire group will be pulled to the side of the river or "eddy out" in river lingo. for a description of the rapid.
Guides in safety kayaks will go ahead of you and place themselves throughout the rapid. When given the signal, all rafts will follow the lead boat through the whitewater. It is an experience you'll remember for a lifetime!
