Wondering how the weather could affect these wine tasting cruises in New York throughout the year? This outing is seasonal, making it one of the most sought-after things to do in NYC from May to October. While it's with the highest hope that the sun will brilliantly shine on all Shearwater  experiences sailing in New York, there's always a chance Mother Nature has other plans. However, guests can rest assured that even in light rain, the wine and cheese tasting in NYC show must go on! So it is highly recommended that guests come prepared with appropriate attire to best suit their personal comfort.

Speaking of clothing and comfort, the Shearwater  has no specific dress code for the Wine Tasting Sail in NYC, in terms of casual versus classy attire. That said, though, appropriate shoes are kindly requested of guests. As the Shearwater's wine tasting cruise in NYC is featured aboard a vintage vessel circa 1929, its deck comes with beautifully-preserved flooring. Guests should wear soft-soled shoes or bare feet, and avoid high heels and boots, so as not to cause scuffs.

Maybe you're planning to wear a warm jacket or flaunt a fun new outfit. So you're wondering if you'll be required to wear a life jacket, as you embark to do wine tasting on NYC waters? As long as you're over 12 years of age, you are permitted to go life jacket-free! And seeing as the Wine Tasting Sail in NYC is reserved for guests 21+ years only, there's a great chance no one may be sporting one. However, you're welcome to wear one if you'd like.

Sometimes folks are a wee bit worried about seasickness. Rest assured the New York Harbor and Hudson River areas typically offer a good deal of protection from elements that can make for a bumpy ride. But some guests may be more sensitive than others — so if you feel concerned, it's recommended to take some motion sickness supplements or ginger capsules before boarding the NYC wine tasting cruise.

And how about the actual sails on the boat, you ask? For some, stepping aboard an authentic sailboat may be a novelty. As long as the wind cooperates, the Shearwater  will rely mainly on wind power to navigate the waters of the Harbor and Hudson River. And guests are invited to help the crew raise the sails, too! For any areas on the route that are less breezy, the boat's motor is sure to come in handy.

Ready to raise a glass or two on one of the most remarkable things to do in New York? Round up your family, friends or a special someone for an unforgettable experience in the Big Apple! "The sail was wonderful. The wine tasting was great. Our only complaint was that the platters of cheese and crackers served on the boat had nuts on them and my husband is highly allergic. Very surprised about not being cautious about allergies these days, especially when at sea."

"Great crew. Really worked hard to be sure we were safe and had an enjoyable time. The woman who poured the wines took her time with each small group on the ship to explain the region, winery and expected flavors. We had a very nice time."
