"My wife and I had never even driven a stick before. The instructors were extremely nice and accommodating, not only teaching us how to drive, but taking the time to make our experience (and the other class members' experiences), amazing despite our novice level."
"Great time! Only 2 constructive criticisms to speak of: (1) During initial track instruction in a street car, the instructor (with we students driving on the course), would, on a couple of occasions with each of us, grab the wheel and steer instead of directing the driver to steer more left or right as required. This was not because of a safety issue or emergency situation and could have been better handled with verbal instruction -- which would have been more educational and less annoying. We were not going that fast. And (2) Car condition: My initially-assigned car was stuck in gear, and I was assigned to a back-up/spare car. I realize it was toward the end of the season and these cars have all probably had a rough summer, but the car needed some work. I am a mechanic, so my comments here are based on experience. The car shook rather severely due to tire imbalance and/or flat spotting possibly exacerbated by worn suspension components, to the extent that a more prudent person would have backed off the gas on the back straight rather than continuing. Additionally, the shift linkage and (I suspect) the internal shift mechanism in the trans had a LOT of slop and wear in it, making it difficult to shift accurately, and to feel what gear I was in. Again, I've been driving and racing (and working on) standard transmission cars for many decades, and I realize this Hewland is a little different than a street box, but this puppy needed some attention. Other than the above which were not deal-breakers, I thoroughly enjoyed this event and will try my best to come back for another session. "
"This was an awesome experience. Nice racing, lots of 'real' racing time. Few downsides: Poor food/drink facilities. Don't agree to have your pictures/video taken for a lot of money, that's a total waste. Something went wrong with my video, and I lost a big part of it (got a $25 refund per check), I was sent the wrong photos (someone else's), and video/picture quality is very poor. Thank goodness my girlfriend took some pictures too (she's an amateur photographer). Her pictures and videos were a lot better than the 'official' ones for which I paid a lot of money. Like said, the experience itself was awesome, but got somewhat a bad feeling dealing with the delivery (late!!!) of the pictures and video."
