One-Session Private Glass Blowing Class in NYC (2 Hours)
This one-time class is fantastic for beginners and starts out with a brief history of glass blowing, as well as the processes that are used. Next you'll review some tools, then set up shop in the studio! Observe and practice "gathering" the glass to make a couple of small items (typically marbles or a flower). Finally, it's time to go big before you go home for the day! Work your way up to creating a paperweight with vibrant layers of color, that's sure to brighten up any work or shelf space.

Two-Session Private Glass Blowing Class in NYC (2 Hours per Session)
Double the Brooklyn glass making fun with this two-part lesson! Your first class will entail the same instruction and hands-on practice as described above, for the one-session option. The second class will then start with a review of the first, then jump right into learning how to start a bubble using a blowpipe. After a few attempts, you'll combine both old and new skills to make a cup. Blow a bubble, use multiple gathers to increase the size, mold a lip, add color, and then transfer your artwork using a punty (the iron rode used to handle the glass). And voila! You have yourself a new way to enjoy your favorite beverages.

Experience one of the most unique date nights in New York City, that comes with a lot of fun and creativity!

    1. Do I need to have experience?
You don't need any glass blowing experience. All skill levels are welcome, whether it's your first time giving glass blowing lessons a go, or you have prior experience. The instructor will be sure to tailor the class to best fit your ability.
    2. Can I take my designed piece home at the end of the class?
Due to the heating and cooling characteristics of glass, your creation must be left overnight at the studio, to cool in the oven and set properly. Items may be picked up by students shortly thereafter, and shipping is available (for a fee) for those unable to return to the Brooklyn location.
    3. What is glass blowing?

Glass blowing is, essentially, the art of making a bubble (also called a parison) out of molten glass using a blowpipe. As a trade that dates back to B.C. times, this skill has certainly seen improvements in terms of methodology and equipment. Your NY glass blowing lesson will cover "gathering," which involves using short puffs to shape a melted blob into a desired shape at the end of the blowpipe. Your expert glass blower will elaborate on further instruction, as you try your own hand at this exquisite art form.
